Painted Steel Shop Sign Letters
Bespoke Shop Sign Letters
Using powder-coated (painted) steel creates a bespoke look for your shop letters or logo which may just be what you need where standing out from your competition is everything. When it comes to quality, there is no better method of production than steel however if your budget is limited then there is a cheaper material alternative called aluminium composite, which has a similar finish and is available in a number of colours.
Stainless Steel has an extremely high resistance to corrosion giving it a much longer life span than any other non-alloy product so if you’re wanting a long life product then this is the product for you. With a little creativity there are lots of effects and contrasts that can be created with powder-coated stainless steel letters. You can also combine stainless steel with other materials like acrylic or vinyl to create a whole new look.
Powder-coated / Painted Steel shop sign letters & logos can be used for internal signs as well as external signs. Steel is a totally weatherproof product and gives you a tough robust finish.
About Flat Cut Painted Steel LettersMade typically from a commercial quality 304 grade steel, the steel flat cut letters are bespoke and made to order in a range of fonts and sizes. A flat sheet of mild steel is laser-cut to the shape and size of the logo or font and then powdercoated in a range of RAL colours before being fitted to a shop fascia, office wall or sign in a number of methods such as:

Choosing your RAL Colour Paint finishThe custom made letters are available in a whole range of RAL colours and finishes. Once the letters are cut to size, they're cleaned and primed before being painted / powder coated. Powder coating is a type of painted coating that is applied as a dry powder. The main difference between a typical liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin" surface finish in whichever colour you desire. When choosing your desired colour, it's advised to pick the RAL colour reference from a physical RAL colour chart book so you can get a true indication on how the colour looks. When you view colour references online, they can differ slightly depending on your screen resolution. |

Installing your Flat Cut Raised lettersFlat cut letters are also designed to give you a three dimensional feel to your sign – they’re just not as chunky as the Built Up 3D Metal Letters. This type of metal lettering is manufactured from a flat metal sheet and fabricated to produce each unique letter. The flat-cut letters consist of a "letter face" which is displayed on the front of the sign and not a "return side". The advantages in using this method is it reduces the cost compared to the built-up letters as well as the weight of the shop sign so they can be displayed and fixed to virtually any wall or front of shop. These type of letters are made to order in a range of fonts, sizes and styles. The shape of the letter is laser cut from a flat sheet of metal. The letters are then fitted to the wall with a two part nut and bolt fixing. The male-part of the fixing is welded onto the back of the letter. The female-part of the fixing is fitted onto the wall. The two parts of the fixing then slot together and are tightened up securely with a spanner to ensure they're securely into position. A paper-based fixing template is usually used to ensure all the fixings are in the correct position. |
Alternative Steel Colours & Finishes
A lot of the requests we get asked to produce are for metal shop sign letters which are long lasting and affordable. Like most materials, stainless steel is available in a number of thicknesses and finishes. Machined in the same way as aluminium composite letters, the shop sign letters or logos are cut from a single flat sheet of Stainless Steel using a CNC router which has a large cutting bed which allows for extra-large letters and logos to me machined as one single piece. The letters or logos can then be painted to your desired colours or left plain.
Here are some similar colours and finishes available:

Also available as 3D built-Up Metal Letters
As well as flat cut metal letters, there are also a range of built up 3d metal letters available in the same colours and finishes - ideal for creating a more chunkier style of signage and making the letters stand out more.
